My Cup of Tea

Here  is another collection of my concept shoot with Kelly entitled, "Graffiti".

This concept most probably out stands all the photo shoots I did during my entire stay in Mackay, Australia. The wardrobe that Kelly wore was one of her creations; during the time when she was still in Fashion School. I pretty much liked the heels that she was wearing here and somehow complimented the whole outfit and made suitable for the composition of my photos. It pretty much contrasted the back ground and the wardrobe she was wearing.

If I stayed a bit longer in Australia, I would have probably built a name for myself slowly and surely. I think I am ready to tackle the professional side of photography. Fashion would be my priority and Wedding photography comes second. It's a different ball game in OZ and I have plenty of Filipino Ideas and concepts that would probably attract and amuse strayans. Oh well, till next year OZ! Ill be coming for you and winter!

Shoots on my List

We have recently concluded our second photo shoot and all I can say is that it was so amazing. It was like spring time in summer. That was the idea. A "Fashion Glamor Photo Shoot" that is.

As the winter here in Queensland slowly approaches, summer clothes have been slashed half prices and out comes the blazers and jackets. It may probably the best time to shop for summer clothes here in OZ now because of massive discounts. LOL

Kelly did an amazing job of strutting the concept. A natural! It was a well spent afternoon thanks to my amazing and ever so helpful set of photographer friends. We couldn't have done it well without each other's company and ideas. Kelly is also making it in the film industry in Sydney and I'm happy to have been part of her portfolio building. Watch out for her soon in the movie world. We are preparing for a "High Fashion Shoot" that is being conceptualized at the moment, so watch out for that in my coming blogs too.

The Blazers were heartily sponsored by Mrs. Joy Thurling, Hair and Make-up Artis and an Entrepreneur who has been styling people in her Salon here in Mackay, participated without hesitation by lending a couple of her blazers on display from her RTW Store. A big big thank you for saving me from the hassel of a wardrobe breakdown.

Thinking that I would have a hard time making and organizing photo shoots here, it seems as though that everything is falling into place. The first concept shoot that I organized wasn't that bad. Due to a series of unfortunate events, say 2 cyclones that hit northern Queensland all in just one week, my first shoot had to be rescheduled because it was facing up against the biggest cyclone that ever hit Australia. In the end, my first concept shoot was up on track a week after the horrifying weather. 4 Photographers, make-up artist Arvin "Posh" Litan, and 2 amazing models namely Rhiannan Bezzina and Frances Tanti.

A Colorful Photo Shoot

COLOR SPLASH
Last November 21, 2010, concluded another successful photo shoot organized by Ms. Carmen Smith where the word color rendered the event's outcome. "Color Splash" - the photo shoot's title and concept, where 19 photographers and 3 models have participated in the said event. The success and the outcome of the photo shoot were all Carmen's ideas which took a long time to prepare in spite her busy life as a college student everyday.

Carmen Smith

"Color Splash" is a concept inspired by Katy Perry's song,  "California Girls". Bright and funky colors were used and toys of different sorts were also made as accessories, same as those seen in Katy Perry's music video. The styling and design of the girls' wardrobe were all of Carmen Smith's creations and so as the model's make-up, which included candies that was used to accent the model's hair and make-up.

Photographers who participated in the event were all divided into groups of 3. Each group had at least 45minutes to work with one model at a time. It was a hot day out in Harana's playground, one of Davao City's oldest and popular family restaurants, but the heat did not bother everyone; the bright and beautiful colors might have soothed everybody.

Modeling and photography are two perfect combinations that have gained popularity here in Davao City. A lot of modeling enthusiasts and photography hobbiests has teamed up to practice their skills and talent. It is already an industry ready to take the whole country by storm. It is amazing to see how a simple themed shoot works.

The Idea of the Rising Industry
It looks easy to photograph and pose for the camera, but actually its not. It takes a lot of skills to photograph a moment, choosing when and where to capture at the same time. It also takes a lot of physical and mental concentration to do a pose and holding it on together while portraying the theme of the shoot.

Basically, it all comes down with the photographer and the model’s “building up their portfolios”. The photo shoots are the model and photographer’s essential collection of their works. It is a way to notch up their value as a model and a photographer to pave way for future opportunities in the industry. I can say that the modeling and photography enthusiasts genuinely display a world class talent like no other.

A skilled photographer and model has to learn to preserve their value. They say everyone can do photography and everyone can model by just a click on one’s DSLR camera. If everyone can do it, what is left for models who have worked hard to reach their level as a valued model? Someone said that modeling and photography may end up likely being just a thing of the past.
